1. Our Commitment to Privacy
This notice describes our Privacy Policy. It will advise you about how we collect, use, and protect personal information you provide. By visiting this site, you are accepting practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. How Information is Collected and Used
The SCJBF website is divided into two areas: public and private. When you access the private sections of the site, we may log your IP address, browser type and language, and the time of your visit. We use this information to prevent abuse. While financial information is requested by our credit card processor, we do not store financial information anywhere on the web site.
A username and password is required for access to the private portion of the SCJBF website. Participating teachers may use the site to register their students for SCJBF events. The password-protected area of the site requests contact information for each teacher including name, address, e-mail address, and phone number. When a student is registered for an SCJBF event, the website collects student contact information including name, address, phone number and birth date for that student. This information is used only for the administration of SCJBF events. It will never be sold or rented or otherwise made available to third parties.
A session “cookie” is used for the private portion of the site. (A cookie is a small text file that is written to the user’s hard drive.) This site’s session cookie is a temporary file that keeps track of the user’s current visit to the private portion of the site. It keeps the user logged in during the session, then expires when the user closes the browser. We do not use any other types of cookies.
The public portion of our website may include photos of students depicted in SCJBF events. Students’ names will not be listed with the photos.
3. Who Has Access to the Information on the Private Portion of the Site
The privacy and protection of your information is important to us. The private portion of the website is password protected. Each teacher has access only to the students he/she/they registers. Each Branch Chair has access only to teacher and student data for his/her/their own branch. Each Regional Chair has access to teacher and student data for the branches within his/her/their region. Only the General Chairman, Web Secretary, and IT Administrator will have access to all database records.
4. Parental Control Over a Child’s Information
The student information we collect is needed to ensure conformity to Festival rules, and so that Festival organizers at the Branch, Regional, and Complete Works Audition levels can contact the student for scheduling and award notification. (The student will be contacted only if the teacher cannot be reached.)
If a parent does not wish this information to be made available to festival organizers, the child’s teacher can remove the listing. This will cause the student to be withdrawn from the Festival.
5. Consent
By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
6. Changes to Privacy Policy
If our Privacy Policy or procedures change, we will immediately post those changes to our website. Any such changes will be effective immediately upon being posted, unless otherwise stated in the change.
7. Legal Disclaimer
SCJBF may need to disclose personal information when required by law or to comply with a legal process.
8. Effective Date
This Privacy Policy is effective as of November 12, 2018.
